Discover how SAPS inspires scientific curiosity through hands-on learning, inquiry-based experiences and enriching programmes across all primary levels.
At SAPS, we nurture caring, passionate, and joyful learners through lessons and programmes grounded in the SAPS Teaching and Learning Framework and the MOE syllabus. Through our Science curriculum, we cultivate in every student the C2O2RE dispositions — Curiosity to explore and question, Courage to take risks in learning, Openness to new ideas and perspectives, Ownership of their learning journey, Reflectiveness in evaluating their thinking and actions, and Enthusiasm for Science and beyond. Guided by good values, ethics, and sound attitudes, students engage with real-life social and ethical issues in Science and participate in meaningful learning experiences through SAPS Social Teaching (SST).
To build strong inquiry skills, the Science department employs four key instructional strategies:
AAPOC (Aim, Apparatus, Procedure, Observation, Conclusion) — a structured framework to guide scientific investigations and develop data analysis skills.
CER (Claim, Evidence, Reason) — a reasoning scaffold that helps students construct and communicate explanations clearly, reinforcing 21st Century Competencies in communication.
Inquiry-based learning and purposeful questioning — approaches that illuminate how scientific knowledge is constructed and foster a spirit of curiosity and rigour.
WOTD (Ways of Thinking and Doing) — a set of practices that develops students into curious, critical, and collaborative learners who engage with Science as real scientists do.
Aligned with the MOE's spiral Primary Science Syllabus — where everyday-life themes are revisited with increasing depth across levels — these approaches equip Anthonians with a strong foundation in scientific knowledge, attitudes, and values, preparing them well for their continued learning in Science at SAPS and beyond.

Lower Primary Outdoor Program

Lower Pri Outdoor Prog 01
To spark Primary 1 students' curiosity and love for Science, an engaging garden trail was designed at the SAPS Science Edible Garden. Integrated with Social Studies and the Programme for Active Learning (PAL), the trail invites students to explore nature firsthand, observe garden etiquette, and use their senses to discover the world of plants and garden wildlife — making Science a vivid, hands-on experience from the very start.

Enrichment Programmes
The following programmes are organised to foster in students a stronger interest and passion for learning Science:
Science Buskers
Primary 3, 4, and 5 Anthonians took part in the Science Buskers Competition organised by the Singapore Science Centre, bringing their scientific knowledge and creativity to life before a live audience. Selected participants were also invited to present at the SAPS Inspire Corner during recess, extending their reach beyond the competition stage. Challenging students to think beyond the classroom, the competition called on them to communicate Science in fun, innovative, and captivating ways. Through this experience, Anthonians deepened their understanding of Science while honing their confidence, creativity, and communication skills — embodying the C2O2RE spirit of curious, enthusiastic learners passionate about sharing the wonders of Science with others.





Enrichment Programmes
The following programmes are organised to foster in students a stronger interest and passion for learning Science:
• Science Buskers
Our P3s, P4s and P5s Anthonians participate in the Science Buskers Competition organised by the Singapore Science Centre.
This competition aims to promote the learning of Science in an engaging way and to generate greater interest in creative science communications and expressions.
• E2K Science Programme
The E2K Science Programme provides P4 to P5 Anthonians who have a strong interest in Science the opportunity to explore advanced science concepts through inquiry-based investigations. It helps them develop scientific habits and attitudes, as well as 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, inventive thinking, and effective communication.

E2K Science Programme
The E2K Science Programme offers a rich and challenging platform for curious and passionate Primary 4 and 5 Anthonians with a strong aptitude for Science to delve into advanced scientific concepts through inquiry-based investigations. Going beyond the classroom, students embody the C2O2RE dispositions in action: they demonstrate Curiosity as they grapple with thought-provoking scientific questions, and Courage as they take bold steps to test their ideas and hypotheses. With Openness to new perspectives and possibilities, they collaborate and engage in rich scientific discourse, while exercising Ownership over their investigations and discoveries. Through sustained reflection on their learning process, they develop Reflectiveness as a habit of mind — and their infectious Enthusiasm for Science drives them to communicate their findings with confidence and creativity.
The E2K Programme thus nurtures not just scientific thinkers, but well-rounded, future-ready learners equipped with critical thinking, inventive thinking, and effective communication — the hallmark competencies of a 21st Century learner.
